Louisville March

Lance and I went down to Louisville for an agility trial for 3 days and we had a wonderful time!  We had a nice hotel at the Holiday Inn we meet some new friends and caught up with some old ones.  Lance was one of 4 Dalmatian at the trial. I am always glad to see fellow Dalmatian people compete with there dogs.
The Louisville show was an all breed show and had obedience to watch also.  I did not get to go watch breed because it was early in the morning and we didn't start agility till 1pm.  The agility surface was packed dirt which is nice.  The only thing I think the club need to do a worker schedule as they never seemed to have anyone to work rings.
Lance who is working on his MACH  did well he got 4 Q's this weekend one of those being a double Q.  we need 740 points and 20 Double Q's to receive a MACH.   You get 1 point for each second under time you are and this is our hardest thing because lance is consistent but not very speedy.  But i am very proud of him for his efforts.  till next time.
We also handed out lots of our sponsor stuff and got good feedback from  a few people who are on the product already.  If your interested in our sponsors see our links page.

starting 2010

Well I have not be blogging much but decided its time.

2009 was a busy year  mostly non dog related.  Mike and I got married we bought a house so that consumed a better part of last year.  I love our new house and the dogs do too.

2010 has started well for Lance we have done mostly Agility and he now has 127 MACH point and 2 double Q...it will be a long road but I am enjoying agility more and more now.

Lance also got the Incredible dog challenge invite for dock diving in Florida the April!  The IDC is what originally go me interested in dock jumping and I am so excited about going.

For march we have two agility trial to go to one in Louisville and the other in Erie.  hopefully we will pick up a double Q or some Mach point.

Sarge is 14 years old and has lost control of his rear legs he now has a wheelchair to run around with outside and he seems to be very happy with it.  He is a great friend who has driven me insane at times but he wouldn't be sarge otherwise.

thanks to our sponsors for 2010

USDAA Agility trial

Well I had an agility trial this past weekend.  I happen to hurt my knee and had to find a handler for lance.  Kathy said she would be happy to run him and she did well in gamblers almost qualifying and had a great run in steeple chase just missed qualifying.  On sunday Caiti ran lance and she had to get a crash course in snooker which didn't go as planed and she was quickly done.  Gamblers however was much better and she qualified with a first place and lance finished his standard title.

I also took some cool pictures today here they are

Dock diving Clays Park

Well Lance and I competed in our first dock dog event for 2009 and man did we have some tough competition. To qualify for big air pro finals jumps had to be big there were 2 dogs who hit 27 plus jumps to qualify another 3 who hit 25 plus.  Lance who jumped in 9 waves all weekend was  handled on Friday and Sunday by a junior handler named sarah simmon  who recently lost her dog to lymphoma  her Jack Russell was a 20 ft plus jumper.  Sarah asked if she could try to qualify for nationals with lance and I said sure as long as I could play some too!  Any how lance and sarah got 2---23ft jumps and a 23ft 7 also many 21 and 22 ft jumps.  For me on Saturday lance stepped it up and gave it his all and hit 3 24ft jumps a 24’10” jump a 24’9” and 24’1”  we also entered him in EV which is like a high jump for dogs.  Lance started to get the bumper at 5’4” high and won EV cadets with a 6’4” high jump he tried for 6’8 jump and barley missed it.  He did a great job on Sunday and made 2 finals one with sarah the junior finals and one with me in the pro finals.

In junior finals lance hit a 22’2 jump and a 22’4 jump to win 1st place with sarah!  I was so proud of both of them sarah is a fun kid and really enjoys the sport!

In pro finals we were seated in 6th place to start out we had 2 jumps to try for placement in the top 4  lances first jump was a 23’4 jump which was good but I knew I had some big jumpers coming up.  My friend pam who has a Belgium malinois dart hit a 27’7”jump  wow was that ever so cool to see!!!!  The other dogs were  coming up  with 25 and 24 ft jumps lance was sitting in 5th place as we hit the dock for our 2nd jump and he pulled out a 24’1” jump to bump us up to 4th place!!!  Where we sweated until the last dog to jump went….and that 1” save us and gave us 4th place…I was so so proud of my little man.  He did a great job.

We had a great weekend weather was cool so was the water so we have to thank our sponsor for the great coats that kept lance warm all weekend www.d-fa.com

May update

May 18th

Well its May and I have not done much blogging.  I have been busy training Lance and myself.   I have been busy trying to lose weight and keeping my diabetes under control.  So far so good lost 26 pounds!  Well on to the spotted dogs Sarge is 13 going on 14 and doing well as a dog his age can do he is deaf and mostly blind but most people don't notice he still looks good and loves to run around and smell the world still.  As for Lance he is 6 and I cant believe it my little boy is getting older!   Lance and I have been training in agility and some dock diving.  I pulled out all of my agility equipment this year and built a new teeter to work on thing at home with.  Working at home sure is nice because I don't have to go far.
As far as shows going we are doing a dock dogs jump in 2 weeks at clays park.  Lance is going to be handled on Friday by a junior handler named Sarah.  Sarah asked me to jump Lance for a few reasons and I agreed to help her out since she just lost her big jumping Jack Russel to cancer a few months ago.  I sure hope Sarah and Lance reach new goal together.  I will still be jumping Lance on Saturday  I can't give up handling him that easily.
To train for our season of dog sports I have been walking and bike riding with Lance we have also been going for long walks on the beach.  Lance swims in that cold lake Erie while I walk.  we also have been doing some treadmill and exercise ball work.  I sure find that exercise ball to be the best thing around for conditioning a dog.  A special thanks to Anna for telling me about it.
Well we have entered a few agility trials for June and July and I hope to keep you up to date on our goings on.... till next time!

March 8th

Well its March and Lance and I have been busy training for agility and dock jumping this year.  we have found the exercise ball to be great tool in keeping him in shape for the winter.  Well we went to the UAD dock jump in Novi MI last weekend on Friday and Saturday and Lance and I had a great time.  we meet new people and caught up with some old friends.  UAD people made us feel so welcome  thanks guys for a great weekend.  We could not stay for finals as I had a tickets to see Fleetwood Mac in concert on Sunday in Pittsburgh and all I can say is I was very tempted to run away and be a band groupie!!!.
Any how Lances jumps were great I was very please to see that he was able to stay consistent almost all weekend and his first two jumps were in the 23'6 to 23'10 range.  for indoors that is great I hope he shows more improvement as the year goes on we are hoping for a few 25ft jumps this year.
Lance is turned 6 years old in February of this year and I hope to continue showing him in agility and dock jumping for many years to come!
    thanks for listening

spotted dog blog

Well here is my new blog for to share my spotted ones accomplishments with anyone who may be interested.  Well we will start with sarge he is now 13 and doing well.  we have been working on the exercise ball for about a month now and i am so pleased with his progress.  He is showing such improvements such as more bladder control and ability to move up and down steps easier!
well about 3 weeks ago i was diagnosed with diabetes so i have been on a diet and watching my sugar and i have started to walk with the boys who seem to be enjoying there daily walks more and more.
Now on to lance who has been a busy boy this winter!  We returned to the agility ring after about a year off.  Lance did well and finished his AXJ title which pleased me so much.  He then follow that up by getting his first double Q towards his MACH title.  The following day he qualified in standard and finished with a second place.
We decided to give a USDAA trial a try and it was fun to learn the new games and Lance qualified in many classes.  The one thing this trial showed me is that I needed to work on Lances speed.  To work on this I decided not to enter any trials and train for a few months I hope in April I will see a change in his speed.
We are going this weekend to our first Dock Jump of the season with UAD ultimate air dogs.  I am very excited about working with UAD this year as I found there venues to very fun and relaxed environment.  Milt and all of the crew at UAD have made me feel so welcome that I cant wait to go.
      Thank You for listening
